This work proposed the implementation of a water recovery and treatment system originating in the glazing stage of the production of tile with the objective that the water used in a production process line of an industrial manufacturing plant can be reused in the same process line. This water is mainly contaminated with clay, so the quality parameters to be improved are total suspended solids (TSS), total solids (TS), and total volatile solids (TVS). In this sense, the physicochemical characterization of the water was carried out under these parameters and following the applicable Mexican standards. Water samples were taken at three different sampling points. Subsequently, jug tests were performed with six different combinations of coagulating and/or flocculant agents to determine the most effective type and dosage to remove contaminants. The results showed removal percentages >95% for TSS and TS and 60% for TVS. Once the treatment was defined and the water quality was verified, the implementation of a water recovery and treatment system was designed and proposed, consisting of a wastewater reception tank, a coagulation- flocculation-sedimentation treatment tank, and a recirculation tank for the treated water in the line process. These results mitigated wastewater discharge, water withdrawal, and the costs associated with water consumption in the industrial plant under study.
