[017] Home-Plant Factory with Artificial Light (H-PFAL): crop production with minimum water consumption

Extreme weather conditions, water restriction and the search for food led to the implementation of disruptive technologies for crop production. plant factory, vertical farms and hydroponic are agronomics techniques that minimize water consumption and contamination by drainage in vegetable cultivation. The objective of this work was to analyze the technical-economic conditions for the implementation of a home plant factory (Home-Plant Factory with Artificial Light) and blend it with the environment of densely populated areas. The goal is to show a perspective of low-sized vegetable production with the least use of resources, especially water. The results of low-cost prototypes are compared with companies dedicated to this growing sector. In perspective, with the results obtained, it can be deduced that it is possible to establish indoor and (H-PFAL) and outdoor technologies in homes as part of their domestic environment. In indoor conditions, the climate, nutrition and management requirements are minimal (average 10 mm water sheet in lettuce), although the energy cost may increase due to the use of artificial lights. Urban agriculture techniques are alternatives for the efficient use of water-energy-environment (already of 90 % less), so that each home can integrate an agriculture utility model (AUM) to its environment.
