The increasing rate at which nanoparticles (NPs) arrive at wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) is of special interest due to their negative effect on the activated sludge. In this research paper, the effect of silver (Ag) and copper (Cu) NPs on bacterial viability of the activated sludge was assessed. It has been proved that a reduced oxygen uptake is related to the inhibition or decay of aerobic bacteria.
